Gaze Aversion

February 18, 2014 by Administrator

KS1 pupils are encouraged to use gaze aversion, a technique which is proven to aid concentration when thinking through a problem or puzzle.

The Year 1 class, at Heather Primary School in Leicestershire, demonstrate how some children look to one side naturally but others need to be trained to avert their gaze.

The technique has been shown to help all ages when working out a problem, partly because it simply allows more time for thought.

The technique is supported by research which is explained by Philippa Cordingley, director of the Centre for the Use of Research and Evidence in Education.
