Post-War Britain: Immigration - Race Relations

February 18, 2014 by Administrator

For Key Stage 2 history pupils, this short video focuses on racism in Britain during the 1960s, in the context of immigration to Britain.

Jamaican Roy Hackett talks about the racism he encountered when he moved to Britain in the late 1950s.

Roy was involved in the Bristol Bus Boycott of 1963, in which the Bristol Omnibus Company refused to employ Black or Asian staff. He also talks about the 'colour bar' and the problems that black people had finding work.
