Give Key Stage 2 pupils a rich insight into life on the French-speaking Caribbean island of Martinique, with this short video showing children singing in a local carnival.
The carnival is in town and Maya and friends are performing a traditional carnival song Papyon Vole. The song is subtitled so that primary children can learn the song and sing along.
This primary modern languages lesson starter relates to the language and themes explored in I am the Music Man, curriculum unit 14 for KS2 French, helping pupils learn and practise their spoken French.
