Key Stage 2 Spanish pupils can learn about the four weather seasons in Mexico with this short video, as pupil Ulysses discusses the weather associated with each season in Veracruz.
Ulysses explains how the weather is hot in spring, with little wind, allowing the birds to fly easily. In summer there's a lot of wind, creating ideal conditions for kite-flying. The leaves fall in rainy autumn. And in winter there's snow in some parts.
This lesson starter relates to the language and themes explored in curriculum unit 12 for KS2 Spanish What's the Weather Like?, and curriculum unit 17, The Four Seasons. It also helps modern languages pupils develop an understanding of the local Mexican culture.
