KS2 Science - How to Muffle Sound

February 18, 2014 by Administrator

This short video for Year 5 science shows a man's comedic attempts to block out noise as he tries to get to sleep. This enables pupils to learn about sound, materials and noise insulation.

Andy Back is trying to get to sleep when his neighbours start playing loud music. Andy uses various items such as pillows, hats, scarves and even tissue paper, as he attempts to muffle the noise.

He finally finds a solution - and is then woken up by his alarm clock in the morning.

This Key Stage 2 science lesson starter encourages a primary class to think about materials that can potentially be used to reduce sound pollution.
