Leadership - Child Poverty

February 14, 2014 by Administrator

Staff at Redcar Children's Centre show the steps they are taking to reduce child poverty, as part of a national pilot scheme.

The Teeside centre works with parents who are out of work and need help to support their families.

Julie Kay, a Job Centre Plus advisor, and employment officer, Leah Willis, offer advice and information to local parents. Through outreach trips to the local supermarket and home visits, they encourage parents to visit the children's centre.

Staff at the centre provide parents with information on employment and training programmes, to help boost confidence. Regular meetings with external agencies help build good relationships and raise aspirations.
