This programme takes a look at two success stories where new leadership ideas and federation structures have helped turn around struggling schools.
Monteney and Fox Hill Primary schools in Sheffield show how new leadership structures transformed them into successful schools. Following this success, they are now considering moving from a soft federation to hard federation, which will mean merging their leadership teams and governing bodies.
The second case history focuses on the Canterbury Campus in Kent. Executive Headteacher, Phil Karnavas, comments on the school's success following its change to a hard federation. It now offers extended services including adult education.
Finally, Professor Mel Ainscow and colleagues at the University of Manchester comment on the new forms of school leadership structures.
