John Hanson Community School in Hampshire has transformed into a completely healthy school following a move to a new building in 2002.
Headteacher Steve Evatt believes that the old 1930's school site had "long passed its sell by date", as the new hi-tech building has enabled the school to pursue the National Healthy Schools Programme with vigour in a truly holistic manner.
The school is particularly proud of the work they do to improve the social and emotional health of their students.
They run many successful schemes, including a peer listening scheme and integrating the promotion of healthy food, diet and fitness into the school day.
The school also promotes "the three R's" - rights, respect and responsibility, which was recognised by the UNICEF Rights Respecting Schools Award in 2006.
