Teaching Key Skills

February 14, 2014 by Administrator

Find out two schools in the north of England are using different techniques to encourage pupils to become engaged in enterprise.

Cardinal Heenan School in Leeds is running an enterprise day for Year 9 pupils. Using an outside expert to manage the day, students are asked to solve tasks in order to develop teamwork, problem solving and presentation skills.

Tasks include assembling a tall structure from drinking straws and designing a town on a budget, which must provide employment and opportunities for its inhabitants.

Elsewhere, St Nicholas School in Cheshire has embedded enterprise across the curriculum, focusing on three different subjects to see how teachers of design and technology, English and MFL incorporate key enterprise skills into their lessons.
