In this programme, maths teacher Nikki Matthews demonstrates how she is teaching global citizenship to her Year 8 tutor group.
To accompany this programme there is a short film that is designed for use in the classroom.
In lesson one, Nikki introduces the group to the concept of fair trade through a board game in which the class take on the roles of producers in the developing world.
They soon learns that fair trade products are no longer confined to just coffee and bananas. They also see how villagers in Pakistan now have access to higher wages, free medical care, free education and more, all thanks to the introduction of fair trade footballs.
Moved and inspired by what they see, the students determine to get fair trade footballs into their own Essex school and take global citizenship into their own hands.
