This great lesson idea, aimed at Key Stage 2 maths, is designed to help pupils understand how fractions are different parts of a whole.
After starting with a recap of the language of fractions, Year 5 teacher Sophie Crump, at Burnham-on-Crouch Primary School, gets her class to make their own fraction wall.
They use strips of A3 paper, which are cut up into the different fractions. Sophie uses different colours for each fraction so the class can then compare them to help show equivalence.
This video is part of the KS2 Maths Lesson Planning Pack on Fractions, Decimals and Percentages, which includes two lesson starters, one great lesson idea and a CPD discussion.
