Hydrogen - Exploding Eggs

February 10, 2014 by Administrator

An exciting chemistry experiment idea for Key Stage 3/4 chemistry lessons, to illustrate how pure hydrogen burns.

Professor Hal Sosabowski fills empty chicken eggs with hydrogen gas, then lights the gas in the eggs to show how pure hydrogen burns and how a mixture of hydrogen and air becomes explosive.

In the interests of science, Hal explodes some chicken eggs and even an ostrich egg.

Professor Hal Sosabowski is a committed chemistry educator who shows how to safely recreate his inspirational demonstrations, which are both educational and spectacular.
