Savings on Capital Spending

February 7, 2014 by Administrator

A school business manager shares his advice on saving money through clever management of capital spending projects.

Bruce Doy is tackling the problem of the school swimming pool, which is costing money in heating because of the amount of heat it loses through its roof. By replacing the roof, he hopes to save up to £2,000 per year on his heating bills alone.

Bruce shows how he has saved money on building projects at The Boswells School. He managed to save up to £100,000 on the refurbishment of the school's theatre by allowing the caretakers to take on more of the workload and save on outside contractors.

He has applied this model to a number of different building projects throughout the school, and by doing this he saves money every time.
