In East Sussex, Ringmer Community College is turning its fortunes around, by saving money and dramatically reducing its carbon footprint through a variety of different means.
Part-time TA, Stephen Green, is the man who encouraged the school to think green when he started an eco-club, which went from five to 200 members in a few years.
Stephen is now a dedicated environmental co-ordinator and has enabled the installation of solar panels, a wind turbine, a ground source heat pump and a biomass boiler, at the school.
The message of looking after the planet has become part of the curriculum, with some project raising money for charity.
