This video for trainee teachers takes a look at the written part of the QTS Numeracy Skills Test and discusses the best ways to approach the questions, which focus on interpreting statistics.
Maths consultant Malcolm Shay looks at some of the statistics questions in the QTS Numeracy Skills Test. He explains that, of all the maths in the test, this is probably the least familiar to non-maths specialists, as it's about interpreting data displayed in tables of figures, charts or graphs.
However, he points out that it's important for teachers to understand information presented in this way as it will be about real pupils and their actual achievements.
Malcolm then works through a sample question about a scatter graph, showing some techniques that may be useful when answering other questions.
