Looking at the issue of homophobic bullying, a 17-year-old boy reveals the effect it can have in this PSHE lesson and assembly starter for primary and secondary pupils.
The boy explains how upsetting homophobic bullying can be. Called names, stigmatised and isolated, he describes the effects that bullying has had on him.
He is now a member of the Essex Youth Scrutiny Committee, which aims to raise awareness of issues that are important to young people in the area.
This short video can be used to start discussions, including; have pupils heard homophobic language in their school, is it hurtful to call someone gay, and is homophobic bullying is different from other sorts of bullying?
