This Key Stage 2 modern languages lesson idea shows how to teach French masculine, feminine and plural words to a Year 4 class, using a song and national flags.
Fanel Belkebir gives each child a flag from one of five countries that are also colour-coded male or female. As the primary pupils sing the song, they have to hold up the correct flag to coincide with the lyrics.
The children are not only learning French but also identifying national flags, in a fun and interactive MFL lesson.
