KS2 MFL - Making a Cake

February 7, 2014 by Administrator

A Year 4 teacher helps her pupils develop their French modern language skills through an engaging lesson where the Key Stage 2 pupils make chocolate cakes.

In a fun, interactive MFL lesson, Sonya Shah, uses the baking activity to help her pupils learn new nouns and verbs, as the pupils study the recipe in French and familiarise themselves with the vocabulary and learn verbs by miming the actions.

The cooks then follow the recipe to create the chocolate cake, working in mixed ability groups of five or six.

The pupils at Churchfield Primary School enjoy putting their French to practical use as well as the results of their baking.
