KS2 MFL - Story Activities

February 7, 2014 by Administrator

See how a Year 3 teachers uses a familiar children's story to help her pupils improve their French modern language literacy skills, in an innovative lesson idea for Key Stage 2.

Laura Nixon's idea for teaching MFL to her Year 3 class involves the use of a familiar children's story and a washing line! The idea is to develop her pupils' French oral and literacy skills.

Laura reads a story to her class in French and follows up by encouraging her pupils to hang up key words and phrases on the washing line provided, to retell the story and reinforce what's been learnt.

The Wimbledon Chase Primary School pupils take it in turns, holding the line and add or remove words and phrases. This is a fun activity and helps them to pick up the language quickly.
