Secondary Science in Practice

February 7, 2014 by Administrator

Challenge Key Stage 3/4 pupils by taking them out of the classroom to see science in practice. Secondary school teacher and local authority adviser Mary Muggridge presents three great ideas for science day trips.

The Goonhilly Satellite Earth Station, in Cornwall, made its last transmission in 2008, but at one time it was the largest satellite station on earth.

The National Space Centre in Leicester is worth the trip to inspire students to think about space and give them an immersive experience.

In the third example, Mary shares her experiences of leading residential trips. Dale Fort Field Centre, on the Pembrokeshire coast, is a residential base for science study, and Mary shows how to support students away from home, possibly for the first time.
