Primary History

February 7, 2014 by Administrator

Find out about three practical history lesson ideas, with day trips for Key Stage 2 pupils to the Imperial War Museum, The National Archives and Blists Hill Victorian Town.

An outing to the Imperial War Museum in Duxford gets primary pupils thinking about war and conflict, while the aircraft hangars and planes can motivate them to build their own models.

At the National Archives in Kew, KS2 children get to see some of the oldest and most important records in the archive. And finally, a trip to Blists Hill Victorian Town allows the class to experience life in the Victorian age, with role-play activities.

These trips not only encourage learning outside of the classroom, but also succeed in teaching history in an accessible way by bringing it to life for pupils.
