Professor Mel Ainscow explores the issues around exclusion and what can be done to support pupils at risk of exclusion, in a practical PGCE lecture for trainee teachers.
Addressing Every Child Matters issues including behaviour, Mel explores why some children are excluded and what can be done to promote inclusion for primary and secondary pupils who would usually be excluded in the current educational system.
Mel is co-director of the Centre for Equity in Education at the University of Manchester, and the government's chief adviser for the Greater Manchester Challenge, a £50m initiative to improve educational outcomes for all young people in the region.
