Two secondary schools show their early intervention strategies in practice as they work to boost students' future grades.
Preston Manor High School, Brent, runs a breakfast club, where struggling Year 7 students are helped to reach Level 4. For the Year 9s, a murder mystery game is played out, all in the name of academic success.
Heathcote Secondary School, Waltham Forest, shows a novel way of encouraging pupils to learn maths; comparing the prices of Spanish villas. Last year their programme helped 90 per cent of students predicted a D grade, reach a C grade in GCSE maths.
