TAs in Special Schools - Supporting Language Development

At the Mary Hare School for the Deaf in Berkshire, three TAs make a valuable contribution to pupils struggling with literacy and those with dyslexia.

Language Enrichment Groups (LEGs) have been introduced at the school to provide support for pupils with a severe language delay.

This film highlights the key roles that TAs Liesl Britten, Lesley White and Sophie Gilmour play in developing this and helping pupils with hearing impairments.

Liesl models new learning techniques for pupils and for the teacher, whilst Lesley specialises in dyslexia and Sophie, who is profoundly deaf, provides inspiration for struggling pupils.
