Inspired Learning Video Clips - Part 2

February 3, 2014 by Administrator

Mick Waters, former director of curriculum at the QCA, uses video clips made by pupils and teachers to show moments of inspired learning, and invites viewers to send in their own inspiring clips.

In the first clip KS1 pupils Chris and Ella talk about a project they did on dragons and castles, and Mick appreciates how their teacher was able to generate terrific learning from story and fantasy.

The next clip features a video link up between a school in Saltburn and a local boy who is now an astronaut at NASA, providing an inspiring learning experience for the pupils.

Connor, a pupil at Bourton Meadows School, Buckinghamshire, talks about his project on flooding, in another clip. Finally, a student-made film about career choices introduces some key issues about women and engineering.

Mick talks about the power of each clip and suggests how teachers might use similar approaches in their own schools.
