Primary Global Citizenship - The Rights of the Child

February 3, 2014 by Administrator

Pupils at West Hill Primary School in London, are taught to respect the rights given to them by the United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child.

The whole-school ethos on behaviour focuses on how the actions of individuals affect the rights of other children in their school.

In class, pupils learn how privileged they are to drink clean water, unlike some children around the world.

In the playground, minor disputes are sorted out between peers when pupils are taught to respect each others' right to play and be safe.

They think about the responsibility they have as the next generation of tourists and consumers, and what changes they would make to enhance and protect the rights of others.
