A teacher introduces her class to social, political, economic and environmental issues by focusing a citizenship project on India.
Year 4 teacher Amy Aviss at St Martha's primary school in King's Lynn, works with the West Norfolk Development Education Agency on this half term project to make her pupils think about the world beyond their local area.
The class project includes learning about saris and dance steps, while also using maths to work out how to live on a low income budget similar to some families in Calcutta.
The culmination of the project a festival for five other local schools, in which Year 4 give a presentation on India and demonstrate a traditional Indian dance.
