Independent St Christopher School in Letchworth Garden City, Hertfordshire, has been developing and delivering a progressive style of teaching for nearly a century.
Here we follow pupils and teachers on a typical day, as they take a creative and child centred approach to the curriculum.
Almost 150 miles away in Stocksbridge High School, Yorkshire, staff are also taking an approach which involves risks and "thinking outside the curriculum box", arming their students with many important skills for life.
Unlike St Christopher School, they have only been delivering their progressive teaching style for three years, but have already felt the success.
