At Rainbow Forge Primary School, the governing body demonstrates a pro-active approach to formal and informal pupil data.
Headteacher Rob Poole and chair of governors Maureen Stoneman, have developed a hands-on approach to governance at the school based in Sheffield.
Governors attend events such as attendance assemblies, where pupils are awarded for positive data.
Maureen also attends a School Improvement Partnership meeting to provide the voice of the governing body within the school.
Parent governor, Paula Kitchin gathers informal data from the community by speaking to other parents at a weekly playgroup.
Finally, governors meet with Year 6 pupils before committee meetings to gather more informal data directly from the pupils. This enables the "Enjoy and Achieve" committee to analyse the formal attainment and achievement data with a wider appreciation of the school.
