Fazakerly Primary School in Liverpool is piloting a scheme which encourages SEAL across the curriculum by organising monthly visits from baby Ryan and his mother.
Ryan is now two and on his twentieth visit to a Year 4 class. The sessions start by looking at how he has developed since his last visit, as he is now running.
The main art lesson filmed looks at Ryan's first steps towards drawing - marks on paper, and how they compare to early pictures the children had brought in, which had more recognisable body parts - faces, arms and legs. In the follow-up lesson, the children drew self-portraits and discuss what body parts they now draw.
Other lessons show how the baby visits enhance the speaking and listening abilities of children and how baby vital statistics can be used as a resource for Maths.
