Using Parents, Answering Requests, Simplifying Handouts

February 3, 2014 by Administrator

In this new series the Time Savers team of educational gurus deliver a masterclass to teachers, offering timesaving tips on how to best work with parents and pupils.

Early Years expert, Jane Dixon, explains how utilising the skills parents have can save the teacher hours of learning and becoming an expert.

She demonstrates how to do a request audit, analyse the questions children ask and the best way to minimise them and encourage independence, meaning the teacher spends less time responding to requests.

Jane also tells the audience how to put together a ?special box? system for children, where pictures, party invitations and letters from school go into for parents to collect, taking the onus off the teacher to keep them all safe.

Additionally, we visit Clare, an Early Years teacher at Worth Primary School, to test whether a self-registration tip can work in practice.
