Language specialist Patricia Whitbread lends her support to St Michael's Primary School in Wolverhampton, to encourage the teaching and learning of languages.
Patricia has introduced a multilingual approach to the school and gives her reasoning behind doing so. As well as teaching the pupils, Patricia supports teacher Monica Mason by helping her improve her language skills.
We follow Monica's Year 3/4 class through a Spanish lesson, which includes singing, dancing, a language challenge, micro-teaching and group work. Finally, Patricia and Monica talk about the different teaching styles and techniques they use with the schools language co-ordinator, Craig Griffiths.
This is part of a series looking at the introduction of languages to the primary curriculum, ahead of future government plans.
