Teachers at Gallions Primary School in Newham show how they have incorporated dance as part of cross-curriculum teaching, promoting a creative approach to the curriculum, and winning a Gold Artsmark.
The teachers take the stimulus for their dance sessions directly from their classes' project work; if the children are studying Africa, then African dancing is used, and if pupils are studying science then they'll choreograph a dance that helps them reflect on their science vocabulary and understanding.
Finally we hear from the teachers about their experience of teaching dance and allowing the children to create their own movements.
