Islamic Education - An Islamic Primary School

February 3, 2014 by Administrator

A look at the work of Islamic Shakhsiyah Primary school in Slough, a privately funded school whose aim is to combine an Islamic spiritual education with contemporary and educationally progressive approaches.

Headteacher and ex-secondary English teacher Farah Ahmed wants to educate the young Muslims in her care to be confident in their 'Islamic personality' (shakhsiyah), while also developing their creative skills and knowledge.

In FS1 Red Class, the pupils work on a minibeast topic, alongside Arabic teacher Leila Guizani.

In Yellow Class, teacher Kausar Hussain conducts a halaquah, or circle time, session on growing with her FS2 group.

Meanwhile, Purple and Orange Class teachers Tahreem Sabir and Tasneem Al-Zeer have adopted a topic-based approach to learning where they can integrate Islamic themes such as studying Islamic Spain.
