KS3/4 PSHE - Abortion Education

February 3, 2014 by Administrator

Abortion is one of the most sensitive subjects covered in schools and this programme, for use in the classroom, lets young people, both male and female, put forward their views.

Aimed at pupils being taught PSHE at KS3/4, young peoples' attitudes towards abortion are explored, including discussions with students from both faith and non-faith schools about their opinions and experiences of abortion, and the way it is taught in PSHE lessons.

The teenagers describe why it is so important to help young people acquire the knowledge to make their own informed choices about sex, pregnancy and abortion.

The difficult decision many teenagers face, with around 20,000 abortions having taken place for teenage girls in the UK in 2007, is illustrated through the case of Emma, a character based on the experiences described by young people.
