How one school with an Ofsted 'Notice to Improve' is using the new KS3 curriculum to implement new ideas and raise standards in English.
Joanne Wilson, learning consultant at Unity College, Burnley, delivers a training session showing the English department how to make best use of the new curriculum, by embracing the creativity and flexibility within it.
Joanne then develops and team teaches a Year 7 reading lesson with Kelly Smith, using a bus stop technique to get the children moving round the classroom.
The pupils present their findings and assess each other's work according to the APP sub-strands. Their work is then assessed and moderated by the whole English department.
Four months later, has the new curriculum enabled the English department to improve results and motivate the students?
