How The English Martyrs School in Hartlepool has transformed the popularity of MFL subjects and boosted its GCSE results.
Four years ago, in response to poor results, the MFL department overhauled the way languages were taught by introducing a range of strategies, including a ten-minute speaking focus in every lesson and an imaginative use of ICT.
They have transformed the appeal of languages within the school, with growing numbers of students opting to take a language, and GCSE results in French and German improving year on year.
This programme explores the ways students are being helped to improve their results in all four areas of the course; reading, writing, listening and speaking.
