Greenside primary school, Tameside has succeeded in improving Maths SAT results over the past year by introducing a whole school approach to the subject.
Teachers now include maths in the school day with daily mental and oral starters, maths assemblies, and giant counting games in the playground. Different speaking and listening strategies have also been key to the rise in SAT results.
The new approach follows advice from HM inspectors that staff needed to improve their maths results across the whole school, after pupils failed to meet the national targets.
