Neuroscience, Schools and the Future

January 27, 2014 by Administrator

How the latest neuroscience research affects schools is examined in this video for primary and secondary teachers, asking four scientists how the common school-day structure may change due to research now and in the future.

Dr Terry Whatson suggests breaking lessons down into five separate mini-lessons, a proposal already being trialled at Monkseaton High School, Newcastle. Meanwhile, Dr Bogdan Draganski focuses on learning by using jugglers to understand just what effect a teacher can have on a child as they learn.

Finally, looking at science in the classroom, Dr Jonathan Sharples shows how science can be applied in surprising ways, before Dr Paul Howard-Jones looks at humans' evolutionary roots, to explore a whole new style of teaching.
