This pedagogy and professional development resource shows secondary geography teacher Andy Roberts being put to the test as he aims to go from good to outstanding in just three weeks.
As part of the challenge, top inspector Clare Gillies assesses one of Andy's lessons at Sydney Russell School, Essex, where he's been assessed as delivering good lessons.
Clare's feedback after Andy's Year 9 lesson on urban regeneration highlights clear areas for improvement, including conveying more warmth in his teaching.
Andy then works on pedagogy in one-to-one CPD sessions with secondary geography adviser Ruth Totterdell, and receives help from voice and communications coach Ulrika Schulte-Baukloh. Ruth believes Andy's lesson plan could create a clearer focus on fewer learning objectives, while Ulrika encourages him to be more expressive with his body language.
After that, Andy has just three weeks back in the classroom to turn their advice into action before the inspector returns to observe a second lesson and deliver her final verdict. Will Andy make the grade?
