The Ormiston Eastside Academy in Birmingham is set to be a specialist creative, digital and performing arts school, with an emphasis on innovation in digital media.
The academy's sponsor Ormiston Education, wants to ensure that the voice of students is heard by the project's planners, builders and architects.
Nick Williams a consultant to the project the Principal of the BRIT School will use his experience of involving young people in influencing change at his school to feed into the process at the digital academy.
The Government has pledged to have two hundred Academies built or in the pipeline by 2010. The programme identifies some of the challenges and issues which may arise from such a large task.
This programme provides an insight into how designers of new schools can engage young people in the design process.
