Teaching assistant Michele Ferrara, from Plumstead Manor School in London, goes through the process of becoming an HLTA.
She embarks on a three-day preparation course and gets a glimpse at the final assessment process to see exactly what it takes to attain the status. The process takes several months to complete, but by following Michele this programme gives a snapshot of what it takes to become an HLTA.
After the preparation course, Michele later returns to the classroom to complete the required tasks. Finally she gets a chance to see the assessment process in action before she goes for it herself.
