Teaching Iraqi Children

January 27, 2014 by Administrator

With basic education free to all in Syria, teachers are responding to the challenge of teaching the large number of Iraqi refugee children registering at schools in Damascus.

Continuing violence in Iraq has resulted in 1.5 million Iraqis seeking refuge in Syria. At Sayeda 5th School, in an area known as Little Iraq, many of the new arrivals suffer from psychological problems and have missed out on a lot of school.

Gain an insight of the teaching methods at the school through the eyes of the teaching staff. They raise issues relating to overcrowded schools, and demonstrate how they work in community centres to help educate the next generation of Iraqis.
