John and Stephen observe as Vanessa takes a Year 10 GCSE class where she encourages the boys to write a piece of original coursework, but the independent learning strategies she employs fails to engage nearly half the class.
In the lesson feedback, John Bayley challenges Stephen and Vanessa to use more explicit guidance on how the boys should be helped to learn independently, but John is surprised to discover that they're reluctant to take up his suggestion.
