Claire Mckenzie, a fast track geography teacher from a North Somerset school, takes her Year 7 class through the question of farmers, hedgerows and their impact on the environment.
Claire uses brainstorming, role play and advocacy, through which the class can explores the advantages of and problems with hedgerow removal, and empathise with farmers. The pupils also create mind maps.
Later in the lesson Claire uses a different technique to encourage the class to complete their own assessment about where they stand on the issue
