John Bayley visits the MFL department at Dunraven School in Streatham Hill in a bid to help them with classroom observation and feedback skills.
Bayley works with Jo Grimes, the line manager of Spanish teacher Gustavo Garcia, who is taking a Year 7 class at the south London school.
Gus's performance management targets are to cater for different learning styles and to use more kinaesthetic learning strategies. Unfortunately, during the lesson that Bayley observes, he runs out of time to complete the main kinaesthetic activity of the lesson satisfactorily.
Jo believes the issue lies with poor timing, but Bayley is not so sure. He later discovers that Gus feels ill at ease with kinaesthetic learning strategies and prefers teaching from the front.
