GCSE results at Broadoak Mathematics and Computing College in Weston-Super-Mare have risen from 24 per cent achieving A*-C in 2003 to 50 per cent in 2007.
These results have been achieved despite a profile of attainment below the national average, and the improvements have had a positive effect on the school's relationship with parents and the wider community.
Headteacher Linda Heaven-Woolley puts the school's success down to raising the standards of teaching and learning, raising the aspirations of children and parents, and raising the bar of what can be achieved.
