Kim Wild, headteacher at Bere Alston Primary School in rural Devon, is focusing on parental involvement and standards in literacy in order to raise attainment.
Vicar Nick Law runs the local arts and crafts club whilst monitoring the well-being of the community. In addition to providing a creative outlet for the children, the community participation is also feeding into the success of the school.
This programme highlights the importance of fostering a belief in education, both in school and in the community, in an area where low aspirations can threaten levels of achievement.
