Schools in London and Sunderland that are successfully reducing the attainment gap between groups of pupils, are visited in this whole-school video on Every Child Matters, for primary and secondary headteachers.
Estelle Morris, former secretary of state for education, talks to headteachers and looks around the schools. They show her the importance of tailoring support to the intake of the school and she witnesses effective methods of doing this at the local level.
Estelle asks what the government can do to help these schools close the gap, while experts discuss the plentiful data and explain the need to use it correctly.
