Performance Management - Assessing Excellent Teachers

January 9, 2014 by Administrator

ET Status became effective in schools in September 2006 and helps experienced teachers to remain in the classroom without having to take on managerial roles.

In this programme, Martin Flatman, director of the National Assessment Agency for the Advanced Skills Teacher and Excellent Teacher schemes in England and Wales, assesses three teachers from Ratton School in Eastbourne to see if they would make suitable ETs.

Martin monitors lessons by history curriculum manager Jane Pittman, science teacher Chris Reene and French teacher Mimi Woods, each of whom has been nominated as potential Excellent Teachers by headteacher David Linsell.

Throughout a half day assessment process, we follow our three candidates from classroom, to interview stage, where Martin identifies their strengths and weaknesses and decides whether ETs has been demonstrated.
